“Father thank you for the miracle of new life you gave me the day I invited Jesus into my heart. Father I am so thankful I can come to you at any time, and know you hear and answer my prayers. Thank you Lord for loving me before I even knew you. I praise you for sacrificing your only son for me. Your love brings healing to me for all the times and ways I have felt unloved in my life. Your love will never end.”

“I have two older sisters and two older brothers. My parents have always had us in church. I got saved after bible school at Emma’s Grove Baptist Church in Fairview, NC when I was 12 years old. I was baptized in a lake that was in a cow pasture. I was afraid of water but at that time I was more afraid of the cows then I was the water, but, I believed that God would protect me from them since I was being baptized. I grew up, got married, but, I didn’t always stay in church. God didn’t leave me, I left Him. And I paid for that. I wasted so many years. There were times the devil had me thinking I wasn’t saved. I had 2 small kids that I should have kept in church. My marriage failed, so I had two kids that I had to raise by myself. I finally got back into going to church and repented of my sins. I regret all those years that I wasted when I should have been living for the Lord. Since then God has given me a good Christian man. My kids grew up and, yes, they followed my footsteps and they also got out of church. So you reap what you sow and it will come home to you. I truly regret all those wasted years. I try to do all I can for the church, for the Lord. I am so thankful when I wanted to come back to the Lord that he was standing there with open arms. He was always with me just waiting for me to come back. It was I that had left Him. I thank Jesus for saving me, for dying on the cross for my sins and for receiving me back when I repented of my sins. I love my Lord and Savior and if you are lost just call upon His name and you can be saved too and can escape that burning hell – Jesus died for you too.”

“As a child, as far back as I can remember, I have always enjoyed church. I always went with my grandparents and I probably attended every bible school in the county when I was growing up. I loved being at church. The one thing that I hated though was the alter calls. I would always make the excuse that I needed water or something just so I could get out of the room while this was going on. The truth is, the song, “Just as I Am” that was always played, always made me cry and stirred something up in me. Little did I know at that age that it was the Spirit of the Lord dealing with my heart. At a very young age of 6 or 7, I finally gave in to that feeling I experienced during the alter calls and step out from the pew and made my way down the aisle and accepted Jesus as my Savior. Thru the years I chose to walk down some of the wrong paths in life, but, he was always there with me. He has seen me thru the good times of my life and carried me thru the bad. My life is His because I have it only thru His mercy and grace. I am far from perfect and still mess up at times but His guiding hand is there to let me know when I have and to show me the path back to his will. He has given me a promise of wealth immeasurable in a Heaven that’ll know no darkness or pain. I didn’t ask Him to do this. He loves me enough that He chose to give His life one day in place of mine. He chose to be my sin so that I may have the chance to escape hell thru the acceptance of Him. I may have troubles and tribulation here on this earth but praise God it’ll all become victories one day when he returns for me.”

"I want to thank the Lord for saving me. In May 2005 my husband and I were engaged to marry, and looking for a church to get married in. I got in touch with Preacher Phillip Wishon wanting to be married at Catawba Falls Baptist Church. Preacher Wishon said he would like to talk with Scott and I before we got married. The day before we were scheduled to sit down with Preacher Wishon and Luella, we had a bad car wreck. We were in Scott’s truck and my children Casey and Kayla were in the back of the truck. We pulled out onto the five lane, in Marion. We got T-boned, totaling both vehicles. On the way to the hospital, there was something wrong. I was unsure what it was at the time, but know now, that I was under conviction. We were all ok physically, but there was just something missing! The following day Luella called me to remind us of our scheduled meeting. I explained to her what had happened and she said we could reschedule the meeting. No sooner than she got it out, Scott and I both said “We have to see the preacher today!” The Lord was drawing us in. That evening we beat the Preacher and Luella to the church. We sat on the front steps trying to look “ok”. They showed up and we all sat together in the Preachers office. They asked us how we were. We explained what happened in the wreck. Preacher shared scripture with us, and boldly asked me “If you would have died in that wreck, would you have went to Heaven or Hell?” It hit me like a ton of bricks, it was all revealed what was wrong. I was lost and on my way to hell. If I would have died, I would have split Hell wide open. Preacher said I didn’t have to go to Hell, I could be saved. Right then and there I got saved. I got down on my knees and I asked the Lord into my heart. I asked for forgiveness of my sins. I am saved and on my way to Heaven! What a way to start a “new life” with my husband. He also dedicated his life to the Lord that day. I am so thankful. The Lord put me in a place where I had to look up. Flat on my back in an ambulance. Thank You Lord! On the cross my Savior died for us. He was crucified because He loves you and me. He arose again, you see. Thank God, He’s coming back for me! I’ve got so much to thank Him for."

What is salvation?
Salvation is the free gift of eternal life that is made possible only through Jesus Christ.
 John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world;
but that the world through him might be saved.

Why do you need salvation?
Mankind needs salvation because it is the only way to get to Heaven.
John 3:3 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Those who have not been saved will spend eternity separated from God.
Revelation 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

How do you obtain salvation?
In order to be saved you must first realize that you are a sinner and that you cannot make it to heaven on your own good works.
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Secondly, you must recognize that salvation is made possible only by the grace of God.
Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

John 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

Finally, you must believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins and that he was raised from the dead.

Romans 10:9-10  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Acts 16:31  Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.
